Who we are
JobProbe ("we", "us") is a practice tool that helps people rehearse job interviews by voice and get AI-generated feedback. This policy explains what information we collect when you use our app, our waitlist, or this website, and how we use it.
Information you provide
Account: your email address and a password (stored only as a salted hash; we never store your plaintext password), plus your profile details such as display name, target role, target experience level, your chosen interface and interview languages, and your reminder and help preferences. When you register with email, we send a 6-digit confirmation code; we store only a hash of that code until it expires. Guest sessions: you can try up to two interviews without an account; we create an anonymous guest record that you can later upgrade to a full account. Only one guest session is available per device (see "Device and usage information" below). Job postings: any job posting text or URL you paste in, which we parse into a role, seniority level, summary, skill tags, responsibilities, requirements, and product domain, and use to write interview questions about that vacancy. Interview answers: a text transcript of each spoken (or typed) answer you give, together with the scores and feedback generated for it. Resume: if you have a registered account and choose to upload a resume (PDF or DOCX, up to 5 MB), we extract details from it as described in "Resume data" below. Invite codes: if you invite a friend or enter a friend's code, we record that link between the two accounts so we can grant the reward. Waitlist and forms: if you join the waitlist or submit a data deletion request, we collect the email address (and optional name or reason) you provide on that form.
Voice and speech
While you answer a question, the app streams your voice directly from your device to Soniox, or to Microsoft Azure Speech Services when Soniox is unavailable, which converts it to text in real time. These providers may process your voice outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Our servers only issue a short-lived access token for this and receive the resulting text. Audio never passes through or is stored on our servers. The interviewer's voice is generated from text by Soniox, or by Microsoft Azure Speech Services when Soniox is unavailable; for this they receive only the interviewer's text, not your voice or your answers. Generated audio of the interviewer's phrases may be cached on our servers so the same phrase isn't generated twice; this cache contains only the interviewer's speech, not yours.
Resume data
Uploading a resume is optional and only available to registered accounts (not guest sessions). When you upload one, our server reads the file's text in memory and sends that text, including any contact details it contains, to our AI provider (DeepSeek) to extract: your first name, your most recent job title, your total years of experience and an estimated seniority level, a list of your skills, your previous positions (job title, company, period, and short highlights), and a brief summary. We store only these extracted details. We do not store the original file or its full text. We use them to personalize your practice interviews: to address you by your first name, to pre-fill your target role and level, to prioritize interview questions related to your skills and experience, and to have our AI provider write interview questions about your own experience (combined with the job posting, if you provide one). Those personalized questions are stored only with the interview they were written for, are never shown to other users, and are deleted together with your account. You can see what was extracted in the app right after uploading. You can delete it at any time with the "Remove" button, and uploading a new resume replaces the previous details. Resume details are also deleted when you delete your account.
Information from third-party sign-in
If you sign in with Google, Facebook, or Apple, we receive and store the provider's name (e.g. "Google") and the stable subject identifier ("sub") that provider assigns to your account, so we can recognize you on future sign-ins. We do not receive or store your password on that provider, and we do not store OAuth access or refresh tokens. Sign-in tokens are used transiently to verify your identity and are not retained.
Device and usage information
To operate the app we store when you were last active and your device's time zone (so reminders arrive at a reasonable local time), and, if you allow notifications, a push notification token for your device issued by Firebase Cloud Messaging. We remove a push token when you sign out or when it stops being valid. To keep guest sessions to one per device and prevent abuse of the free guest interviews, the Android app sends us your device's Android ID (an identifier Android assigns to our app on your device; it changes after a factory reset). We store only a salted one-way hash of it, linked to the guest account created on that device, and never the identifier itself. Your IP address is used transiently to rate-limit guest sign-ups and is not stored for this purpose. On this website we use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits (pages viewed, referring site, country, browser and device type). It does not use cookies or local storage, does not fingerprint or track you across sites, and we only see aggregated statistics.
Payment information
Premium subscriptions in the Android app are purchased through Google Play Billing. Purchase verification and subscription status are handled by RevenueCat on our behalf: we send it the purchase token from Google Play and an anonymous account identifier, and store the resulting subscription status (product, expiry date, whether it renews, billing issues, and the store's management link). We also store payment metadata such as the amount, currency, plan, provider, a provider reference, and status for our financial records. We never receive or store your card number or other payment card data; that is handled entirely by Google Play. Promotional Premium (for example, the free Premium interviews for new accounts or an invite-a-friend reward) is recorded as a grant on your account.
How we use your information
We use your information to: run your practice interviews, including checking whether an answer is on topic, offering a hint when you're stuck, and asking follow-up questions; score your answers and generate feedback, improved-answer suggestions, and an overall report; write questions based on a job posting and/or your resume; track your progress over time; manage your subscription, promotional Premium time, and invite rewards; send account emails (such as your confirmation code); send reminders by email or push notification if you have enabled them; respond to support requests and data deletion requests; and improve the product. We do not sell your personal information.
Reminders
We may occasionally remind you to practice by push notification (on by default; you can turn it off in your profile or in Android settings) and by email (off by default; only if you explicitly opt in). We send at most a few reminders per week and only during daytime in your time zone. Every reminder email contains a one-click unsubscribe link, and you can turn either channel off at any time in your profile.
Third-party sub-processors
To provide the service, we share limited data with the following sub-processors, each acting under its own terms: DeepSeek receives your interview transcripts, interview questions, pasted job posting text, and the text of any resume you upload in order to screen and score answers, generate feedback, hints, follow-up questions and reports, parse job postings, and extract the resume details described above. Soniox receives your voice while you answer, to convert it to text, and generates the spoken voice of the AI interviewer from text. Microsoft Azure Speech Services does the same when Soniox is unavailable. Google Play Billing and RevenueCat process and verify Premium subscription purchases. Google Firebase Cloud Messaging delivers push notifications to your device. Our email delivery provider (Resend or an SMTP service) sends confirmation codes and, if you opted in, reminder emails. Google, Facebook, and Apple are used only for optional social sign-in, as described above. Cloudflare provides privacy-friendly, cookieless visitor statistics for this website.
Data retention
We retain your account data, interview history, and progress history for as long as your account is active, so you can review past interviews and track improvement. Details extracted from your resume are kept until you remove them in the app, replace them by uploading another resume, or delete your account. Email confirmation codes expire after 15 minutes. The hashed device identifier is kept for as long as the account it is linked to exists and is deleted together with it. If you request account deletion (see "Your rights" below), we delete this data as described on our Data Deletion page, except that billing and payment records are retained in an anonymized form for financial and legal record-keeping.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict certain processing. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time on our Data Deletion page. For any other privacy request, contact us at jobprobe@tretiak.info.
Children
JobProbe is intended for adults and is not directed at anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from people under 18; if we learn that we have, we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the product evolves. We will update the "last updated" date above when we do, and for material changes we will provide a more prominent notice.
